Personal profile

I am a hard working sociable person who aims to achieve the best in everything I do. During the past five years, I have been residing in China studying Chinese, teaching English as a foreign language and also working as a recruiter. I am ambitious and I believeworking and living in Chinahas helped develop my personal growth and continued to motivate me in aiming for continued success in my future career. This recent experience demonstrated my ability to adapt to a new environment and integrate into a different culture. I have always been an adventurous person and embrace new challenges with enthusiasm. I also consider myself to be a good leader and able to handle considerable challenges. I am also a good problem solver.

Key Skills

Communication - I have excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with people of all ages and cultures in a range of situations. My experience includes teaching English to large classes of children of various ages ranging from 3-18. I have also taught adults on a one on one basis. I am a confident public speaker.

Language skills - I have been studying Chinese for almost 5 years while living in China. I have achieved a good level of fluency in speaking, writing, reading and listening. I have studied formally at Guangzhou University of foreign studies in 2012 and Guilin University of Technology in 2009. I have continued to study and improve my language skills in my free time. I have a lot of interest in China, especially the culture and the lifestyle. I have learned a lot through communicating with people on a daily basis. I appeared on Chinese television, as a contestant on a job-hunting show called “I Am the Best”; the show was recorded entirely in Chinese. I have recently completed the Chinese Proficiency language Examination, HSK, at level 4, with a pass of 238 out of 300, which is a grade A.

Leadership- I believe my leadership skills are strong; and I enjoy being in a position of responsibility. In my most recent job teaching I had to show a high level of leadership and discipline. I am mentally strong and I am able to work efficiently even in difficult circumstances. My role while working at “Cost-Killer” was that of a Customer Service Manager. I had to lead a team, motivating staff in their work and encouraging them to achieve high results and meet targets.

Organisation -I have excellent all round organisational ability with experience of working under pressure and meeting deadlines.During my year at Guilin University Iwas promoted tohead of the ForeignStudents Union. My responsibilities included organising events and supporting other foreign students. During my recent employment in Foshan I had to organise daily lessons and arrange many activities. I am able to prioritise and work on my own initiative.

The curriculum followed a formal set text but I had the freedom to create my own lessons to make it a more enjoyable and varied experience for the students. October 2010 - January 2011                English Teacher, IEC Xinyu International Kindergarten, Foshan, China

Each class had approximately 30 students aged between 2 years and 6 years old. I was teaching 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday. There were no set texts to follow, so I prepared the lessons, and feedback suggested all of my lessons were enjoyable for the children, enabling the children to learn and have fun.

January 2010 - January 2011               English Teacher, Real English Training Centre, Foshan, China

November 2008 - November 2009                  English Teacher, English First Training Centre, Guilin, China

While studying at Guilin University, I worked part-time at English First. Each class had approximately 15 students in aged between 6 years and 14 years old. Each lesson was 2 hours long. While the curriculum followed a set book I was left with a lot of flexibility to do other activities. I had use initiative to be fully prepared with various learning activities.

March 2007- September 2008               Sales assistant, Blacks, Broughton, UK.

Main duties included serving customers interested in outdoor pursuits. My responsibilities were to be approachable, to give sound advice with gear, and to make sure customers were satisfied with their products. Each week staff sales were analysed and I was usually in the top two.

I returned to the summer camp a year later, in year two I had more responsibilities including training new employees.
